Seema Dosaj founded Berris Law, a highly respected criminal, family, and extradition legal practice, in West London in 2017. The two-partner firm has grown significantly since it launched with two offices and ten hugely experienced lawyers undertaking work across the UK.
Seema’s practice consists of some of the most high profile and difficult cases, often involving complex legal issues and navigating significant, and often negative, media interest. Most recently, Seema represented Mo Robinson in the Vietnamese lorry deaths case. Mr Robinson was the driver who had picked up the lorry trailer in Purfleet and discovered the deceased Vietnamese migrants.
Another notable case includes representing one of the two men charged in the tragic murder of teenager Celine Dookhran in 2017. Her client was acquitted after trial whilst his co-defendant was convicted.
The Asian Legal Awards is the Society of Asian Lawyers’ annual celebration of the very best Asian legal talent. Seema, whose family roots lie in Uganda, migrated to the UK, via Kenya, in the early 1970s.
Berris law senior partner, Julian Hayes comments on Seema’s accolade:
“I am absolutely thrilled that Seema has won the Criminal Lawyer of the Year award at the Asian Legal Awards. She works relentlessly for her clients despite external pressures such as negative media about cases. Everybody, no matter who you are, deserves a fair trial. We are extremely privileged in this country for the justice system we have, where everyone has the right to legal representation. If it wasn’t for the strength and determination of people like Seema in the world, we would be convicting a lot more innocent people.”
Seema Dosaj added:
“What a wonderful way to end a very busy year in criminal justice. I am completely overwhelmed and would like to thank the Society of Asian Lawyers for the recognition. I would also like to thank the great team we have here at Berris Law, without whom the practice would not be the success that it is.”
