Leading criminal lawyer and managing partner at Berris Law, Seema Dosaj has been nominated for the prestigious Criminal Defence Lawyer at the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards (LALYs).

Seema Dosaj founded Berris Law, a highly respected criminal defence and family legal practice, in West London in 2017. Since it launched, the firm has grown significantly with the arrival of Julian Hayes as senior partner, the opening of two offices, and the appointments of ten hugely experienced lawyers undertaking work across the UK.

Seema and her practice have a formidable reputation on the criminal defence circuit in London and beyond. She has been involved and represented clients in some of the most high-profile and difficult cases, which has not only involved managing complex legal cases but also dealing with significant, often negative, media interest.

Over the past year, Seema has defended many clients, most notably the 25-year-old lorry driver Maurice Robinson in the Vietnamese lorry deaths case. Maurice faced 39 counts of manslaughter, conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration, transferring criminal property, and acquiring criminal property.

At the vanguard of defending Legal Aid over the years, Seema is a renowned criminal solicitor who fights fiercely for the right to a fair trial and justice for all her clients. She cares deeply about those she represents and campaigns for a fairer and better society for all.

Berris Law senior partner, Julian Hayes said of Seema’s nomination:
“Seema works tirelessly for her clients despite external pressures such as negative media about her cases. For years she has relentlessly campaigned for the rights of individuals to be offered a fair trial and is constantly fighting for legal aid and justice for all. I cannot think of anybody more deserving than her to be nominated.”

Seema was awarded the 2021 Criminal Lawyer of the Year award at the Asian Legal Awards back in December. The LALY’s are the renowned yearly awards awarded by the Legal Aid Practitioner’s Group. The ceremony will take place in London on July 12th, 2022.
